Mona and Joe

Mona and Joe were wed at Duchman Family Winery located in Driftwood Texas.  Mona fell in love with the “Picasso” Mini calla lilies and wanted nothing else.  The wedding was an intimate gathering of friends and family with floral accents to embellish the royal attire of her Bridal Party.  Here are a few images provided by our friends over at Rebel with a Camera!

River Place Country Club Open House!

Having a rare weekend with no bookings left Celia and I wondering if we should hang around the house, or get out there and help out some local venues with their happenings.  During our research of who, what and where we found two that totally rocked our vibe that we decided to participate in.

Dividing and conquering was the focus of the day as I traveled to River Place and Celia help La Paloma Event Center.

Blossom's Table

UT Orange and burgundy bouquet

First things first… I had to bring this little birdie along to the Open House.  When we first purchased him it was for the Domain Bridal Soirre.  The fall table needed some whimsy and I found this plump little guy and had to get him.  Since then he has been hidden among our decor at every venue open house and bridal show.  I just couldn’t not bring him along today.  I am starting to thin that maybe I should give him a name… hmm…

Fall Lantern Flowers

Fall Table Design

The theme for the day was “The four seasons”  Here is a few shots of our fall inspired table.  Katherine with The River Place Country Club chose a chocolate pin tuck linen and gold toned chair sashes wrapped around the dark mahogany “chivari” chairs for the foundation.  I created a stunningly large wrought iron lantern that was spilling out hydrangea, Black Magic Roses, UT orange “Mambo” spray roses, Hypericum Berries and gorgeous red Mini Calla lilies.  Seeded eucalyptus spills from around the arrangement and onto the table.  I flanked the arrangement with a few really unique vases that I found at consignment and placed pillar candles in them for a bit of candle light.
Red Mini Calla

These Red Mini Calla lilies are my FAV of the day!

I love the red mini calla lilies!  They are so perfect and rare, I think it has been over a year since I have had the pleasure of working with them.
Our Summer design

Oncidium Orchids layed amongst a bunch of beach things

The summer table was a long “roman” style setting with Orange, pink and yellow linen.  The colors on this table reminded me of the hot summers at the beach, so I wanted the floral to refect that vibe.  Laying a Manzanita branch on the runner down the center of the table and interspercing yellow Oncidium Orchids, star fish and sea shells was just the touch it needed.
My little starfish friend Patrick

Tulips under glass

Yellow orange and pink tulips designed in cluster fashion

The spring table started with the pan tone color of the year linen “honeysuckle”.  I then took some teal tinted river rocks and accented the bottom of three pill vases , added a splash of water and artfully filled each vase with a  grouping of tulips.  What says spring like a tulip?

Variegated Pink Tulip

Tulips are trained and swirling around the inside of the vase.

Aparently I did not take any photos of the winter wonderland table with my Canon One Shot Camera… so I will have to wait until the professional photos come in to share that set .

Until next time.

We are featured in Austin Wedding Day!

Amidst being sick and trying to recover, things here at Blossom’s have been fast and furious.  Three days of Bridal Shows, the largest wedding we have created here in the Austin area since the move, and several venue open houses later, we find that good things are waiting for us.  We announced yesterday that we are the proud recipients of the Wedding Wire Brides Choice Award for Floral art and Decor.  Today we announce that we are being featured in Austin Wedding Day!

Gorgeous hand tied bouquet

Complimentary Boutonniere

I created both designs and must share that I was a bit hopeful that the handle of the bouquet and the stem of the boutonniere would be revealed in the photos as well.  They were gorgeously wrapped with a slate gray embroidered ribbon and adorned with dark red Swarovski crystals.

Until next time,

The Classics

Early in my Floral Career, I found that one of my favorite combination was white and green.  Over the years, as my creativity matured and I cultivated the use of different design elements to create extraordinary works of art, I found that when I revisited a classic white and green theme, it was still my favorite.

Arcelia married her best friend the day before my Birthday at St. Austin’s Catholic Church in downtown Austin.

“The Perfect Pear”

Rebeccca and Jason were wed at a family friends Victorian style cottage.  The level of detail they poured into their wedding day makes it my all time favorite.  Everything from the invitations down to the wrap on the handle of her bouquet were coordinated and evoked the fresh, fun vibe of the blissful couple.  I do not usually post photos from an event that do not showcase the florals, however this wedding was so full of detail it is worth the extra work to include more than just the products I provided!  Special thank you to AJH Photography.

Pears were everywhere! It was a constant reminder that Rebecca and Jason are the "Perfect Pear"

Garden Rose centerpeices traveled down each table

Chair markers, pennants and milk glass tied the theme with perfection

Integrating custom elements of note cards, pennants and the like were flawless

David Austin Garden Roses, mixed with viburnum and hypericum were all drawn up with a mint green grosgrain ribbon

I loved the detailed hair peices! How unique!

So fun and sassy!

Fall Inspired Bouquet Fashion

Being that it is Thursday and I am sitting here blogging probably means that I have a pretty low key week ahead of me.  A nice break to start the crazy fall season off with I might add.  Our neighborhood is hosting its annual October “Fly In” Picnic, and I have been busy making cookies and preparing for the festivities that brings.   I really need to try some of the photos techniques that my friend Randy talks about and see how the pictures come out.

On another note, flowers for the fall are starting to emerge in the nurseries, and the weather has turned crisp and delightful.  I am thoroughly enjoying all of the tiny yellow clover that are blooming in our yard.  Some say it is a weed, but the gorgeous yellow blanket is soft and the birds really seem to be enjoying them.

It is true that using floral that is blooming in the fall is a great way to keep the cost of your wedding flowers under control, but have you thought of other ways to incorporate elements of the fall in your arrangements that are not floral? Elements such as acorns, dried pepperberries, chinese lanterns and bark covered branches are just a few. Using assorted greenery that is abundant in the fall is a sure fire way to evoke the feel of fall and control you overall cost.  This dainty teardrop bouquet consists of some bridal favotires like mini calla lilies and Cymbidium Orchids, along with seasonal Hypericum berries, pepper berry, dahlia and greenery.

It is possible to stick with a white toned bouqeut and still evoke the essence of fall.  The bouquet pictured below conisits of white Dahlia, Freesia, Lissianthus, green Hypericum Berries, Brunia Berries, spiraled Fiddle head fern, Pheasant feathers and accents of Lambs Ear and Pittosporum.   Wrap the handle with a coordinating color to accent your wedding, and you are traditional and seasonal at the same time.

White Bridal Bouquet Fall

One of my favorite techniques this year is the incorporation of feathers in bouquets.  This last bouquet using succulent dark brown Cymbidium Orchids and velvet red Freedom Roses as a focal, and accents on the details create the festive fall vibe.Wrap the handle with baroque ribbon and adorn with gold toned beads and an heirloom brooch to finish off the  look.

It is time for me to get out to the studio, and see what work needs to be done to prepare for the weddings this weekend.  Until next time, enjoy this crisp weather and happy planning!
